Time to be mean to our characters, y'all. It's Memory Share time.

So, starting at the time of this post and going until 11:59pm EST on Friday, July 24, characters may suddenly experience memories that they do not recognize as their own. In fact, they will likely recognize them as the experiences of other people entirely.

Players will post on the IC community and specify in either the subject of the post or somewhere in the post who can see the memory in question. You can choose to send the memory to a specific single character, a specific group of other characters, all characters, or you can set it to send to random characters (and, if you want, limit the number of people who see it).

The memory can be written, video, or audio. For video, you can use clips from your character's source material or you can use fanvids. In the instance of the latter, other characters will see and hear only the source material included (they won't hear the music attached to it; rather than seeing a fanvid, they'll just see a handful of disjointed and truncated memories).

If you're writing out your memory, please either put it on your character's journal and link to it or else put it behind a cut tag (if you're not sure how to do that, please ask and I'm happy to help).

Use the comments section of the posts on the IC community to play out any reactions and just use the subject lines of your top-level comments to specify if it's something that they would've put in the character's personal inbox (voice/video calls, text messages, etc.) or if it's in-person logging. That way, it can all be in one place.

If you're cool with people threadjacking, please specify that somewhere on your post so that everyone knows it's okay to do that in your post. ETA for clarity: Also, know that threadjacking, in this instance means that players can use your post as a hub to reach out to OTHER characters regarding what they've seen.

ETA: For clarity, it's not likely that characters will realize that their memories are being shared/to whom they're being shared unless those people let the character know. They're likely to notice a pattern of their own receipt of memories that don't belong to them and then they can do the math, though.

First off, it's that time again. Please comment below with a list of the characters you're keeping and specify any that you intend to drop. AC closes on Friday, May 8 at 11:59 pm EST. No proxy check-ins are permitted unless there's an emergency.

At the end of AC, any characters not accounted for will be swept and any players with no characters in the game after sweeps will be removed from the Discord chat (you're welcome to re-app your character if they're swept and after being accepted, you can return to the chat) just to clean up a little bit.

Comments are screened, in case anyone needs to discuss anything privately.

Secondly, Anonymous strikes again! All comments on that post will be considered game canon. If you want your character to participate with a top-level but you know that they wouldn't ICly do that, feel free to top-level them anyway and they're welcome to comment back that they weren't the one who put themselves on there if they get mad about Anonymous having done it for them. Anonymous gets their kicks from watching the "chaos ensues" portion of an IC anon meme (among other network shenanigans), so it makes perfect sense for them to have top-leveled for a character who wouldn't have done it themselves.

Please feel free to add your own empty top-levels for general anon discussion and IC wank.

Additionally, for maximum lolz, Anonymous has also decided to wreak some more general havoc on the network. Starting with this post and going on until 11:59 PM EST on Friday, May 8, the Displaced Super devices will have officially gone haywire. The severity and frequency of the issue's impact on your characters is up to you.

Some examples of network issues can include:

• Network privacy firewall failure (at some points during this week, the public at large might see some posts as the privacy firewall flickers on and off—please specify on your post if you vehemently prefer that the post in question does not get exposed in this way);
• Filter failures (please utilize subject lines to specify in what ways the filter has failed);
• Anon failures (can be an intended anon comment or post is not kept anonymous or a post that isn't meant to be anonymous is);
• Message re-routing (again, please utilize subject lines to specify the intended and actual recipient(s) of the message);
• Private inbox message interference or re-routing (for this week, please refrain from the use of IC inboxes and simply post to the network with an indication of some kind that the message was intended to have been an inbox message, if you'd like to allow those posts to be affected by the network failure mini-plot);
• AI attempts to autocorrect messages for clarity, honesty, lolz, etc.;
• Translation errors and truncated messages;
• GIF substitution;
• Whatever else you can imagine, please be creative!

Almost all of our players are currently a part of the Discord chat, so any questions regarding the network fail mini-plot can be asked on Discord. If you aren't a part of the Discord and have a question, drop it here and I'll share with the class by unscreening it so everyone can see the answer.

With Activity Check completed, it's time to roll out a new plot. Shortly, an IC Anon Meme post will be going up by one of the NPC villains, Anonymous, a first wave Displaced Super whose actual identity no one knows at the moment.

The time has come for our first event in Nebulochaotic! From now on, there is an NPC villain journal that ALL PLAYERS can use and contribute to. You can read more about that on this post, locked to players. You might notice that there does exist one villain's want ad but any additional information seems to be missing.

...you'll just have to watch for the breaking news report later today to find out what's going on. Once that's available, you can revisit the locked post and you'll see more information on the villain himself, at which point, the password will become available and you're welcome to log into the NPC journal and knock yourselves out!
